The Southwest Utah Public Health Department (SWUPHD) will be holding its annual Flu Shootout in St. George on Tuesday, September 17th at the Red Cliffs Mall. Residents can get their flu shot while helping the health department and community partners practice their emergency response plans.

Co-sponsors include Dixie Regional Medical Center, the City of St. George, VIPS (Volunteers in Police Service), MRC (Medical Reserve Corps), and Dixie State University’s nursing program.

The Flu Shootout will again feature a drive-thru service in the mall parking lot, allowing people aged 18 and over to get vaccinated without leaving their vehicle. Anyone, including families with children, can get flu shots inside the mall near the food court in the afternoon.

Flu Shootouts will be held in the other counties served by the SWUPHD (Iron, Kane, Beaver, and Garfield) in preparation for the upcoming flu season.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends vaccination for everyone over 6 months of age in order to reduce the risk of influenza infection and serious complications.
