A state agency doesn't believe there is anything wrong with the water at Pineview Reservoir despite the death of thousands of fish there.

Mark Hadley of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is trying to reassure visitors that the lake is safe and the fishing is fine.

Hadley says black crappie at the reservoir have been dying in large numbers due to several factors, including extremely warm water in the areas where the fish swim.

He says there are also too many of the fish competing for oxygen in the lake, adding to the problem.

Water quality tests have shown no other problems at the reservoir, but more tests are being done just to make sure.
