Three people in hospital after Tesla crash

Three people are recovering from injuries after a crash involving a Tesla and another vehicle in Salt Lake City.

Police Lieutenant Brett Olsen says the driver of the Tesla was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car ran a red light at 900 West North Temple yesterday morning.

The battery on the Tesla exploded after the crash and caused the car to catch on fire.

Two men in the Tesla and one person in the other car were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Olsen says the impact of the crash led directly to the injuries suffered by those hospitalized.
