Utah Democrats have a new party leader

The Utah Democratic Party has a new leader. 

Jeff Merchant was elected the new chair of the state party at their convention in Park City Saturday.  

Merchant won 77-percent of the vote to easily defeat Daisy Thomas, who was running for re-election. 

Merchant said his main goals would be to overhaul the state party's current staff and to make sure the Democrats have a definite plan to come together and win elections.
