The state of Utah is now making a mental health app for smartphones available to the public at no cost.

Eric Tadehara of the state's Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health says the myStrength app could help Utahns cope with the stress created by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The app asks users questions about how they are feeling and any problems they may have at that moment.

Then it offers activities designed to help boost the user's mood and reduce stress.

Tadehara says there are also some links provided for those who feel they need more direct help than the app provides.

The app is available for download through the DSAMH website.
