Utah is seeing a drop in the number of new cases of COVID-19 at the same time that demand for virus testing is also dropping.

The rolling average of new cases in Utah dropped to 428 a day yesterday, compared to 447 per day on Sunday.

State officials credit much of the drop to the number of Utahns wearing face masks in public.

However, officials at coronavirus testing sites say they've also seen declines of up to 15 to 20-percent in the number of people seeking COVID-19 tests.

They are unsure of the exact cause of the decline, citing vacations and pandemic fatigue as possible factors.
