Utah’s senators want to keep project to modernize missile system

Both of Utah's senators are calling on the Department of Defense to keep a project to modernize the country's intercontinental ballistic missile system on schedule.

In a letter sent with six other senators, both Senators Mike Lee and Mitt Romney say delays to the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program would undermine U.S. defense capabilities.

Northrop Grumman broke ground in August on a facility next to Hill Air Force Base that will serve as the future headquarters for the defense contractor's workforce.

Last month, the Trump administration diverted 54-million dollars in projects at the base to fund construction for the U.S.-Mexico border wall.
