Breakthrough at Huntsman Cancer Institute

A breakthrough in cell research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute could lead to a cure for pancreatic cancer in the future.

Scientists say that by turning on a specific protein in mice that exhibited the early stages of the cancer, they were able to block the disease from spreading, and even reverse its effects.

According to their research, that protein helps pancreatic cells regulate and produce digestive enzymes.

Pancreatic cancer develops when that protein disappears.
