Cedar Man Arrested for Witness Tampering From Jail

A 27-year-old Cedar City man is arrested on suspicion of witness tampering, after authorities listened in to his phone calls from jail.

Jacob Alcantar was arrested March 10th after he hit and choked his girlfriend when she was holding their four-year-old son.

On the date of a preliminary hearing, a narcotics task force listened in to calls Alcantar made from the Iron County Jail to his mother and girlfriend.

They say he coached them in how to respond to questions about him in court.
