The State of Utah thwarted a series of cyberattacks originating from Iran over the weekend.

The Utah Division of Technology Services said that they saw an increase in what they call "surveillance traffic," meaning someone was looking for holes and vulnerabilities in state systems.

DTS officials say they traced that surveillance back to Iran, and implemented counter-measures that have since discouraged any more attempts.

U.S. Homeland Security has warned private businesses and local governments about potential cyberattacks as tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to rise.
