Deadly tree disease discovered in Utah
A disease blamed for killing millions of trees in the U.S. has been detected in Utah for the first time.
Arborist Jerry Auble found Dutch Elm Disease in a group of trees in the Ogden Canyon area.
The disease is spread by a particular type of beetle and can kill a tree in as little six weeks.
Experts fear cleaning up the dead trees and trying to stop the progress of the disease could cost millions of dollars.
Auble says the infestation could lead to other negative effects on Utah's environment.
