Democratic lawmakers call themselves the state’s pro-family party

Utah's Democratic lawmakers are calling themselves the state's pro-family party after giving a preview of the bills they plan to file in the next session of the legislature.

House Democratic Minority Leader Brian King joined more than a dozen state House and Senate colleagues in the rotunda of the State Capitol yesterday to unveil their proposals.

Among the proposals are bills to allow sex education, have insurance companies and Medicaid pay for contraception and fertility treatments and give state employees paid family leave.

The legislature will hold its next general session beginning January 27th.

State Representative Stephanie Pitcher of Salt Lake City talked about a proposal that would let state employees bring their newborn children to work with them.
