ST. GEORGE, Utah — To raise funds for student scholarships, Dixie State University and its premier song and dance performing team, Raging Red, are partnering with community members to perform the hit musical Mamma Mia.

The musical will be performed at Dixie State University’s O.C. Tanner Amphitheater at the gateway to Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah, from May 20 through June 5. The show will run on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday nights at 8 p.m. with a matinee performance offered on May 29 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and are available at showtix4u.com/events/mammamia.

“This high-energy production is an exciting collaboration between DSU students, faculty and staff, as well as local community theater groups, businesses, professional and amateur actors,” Dixie State’s Vice President of Student Affairs Del Beatty said. “With a cast of over 50 talented performers coupled with amazing choreography, the show is incredible!”    

The performance is produced by DSU Student Affairs as a fundraiser for scholarships for student-members of Raging Red. As a recruiting tool for DSU, Raging Red performs for public schools throughout Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Arizona and California. The performance team also entertains at community and civic events, alumni gatherings and local care centers. Raging Red has had opportunities to travel and perform across the country as well as internationally. Members are selected through an extensive audition process and must be DSU students.

“Presenting a musical with such a large cast, featuring amazing DSU student talent and having adult leads filling the roles of the Dynamos and dads will provide a wonderful experience for the audience,” Raging Red Director Geoffrey Reynolds said. “This fun yet touching story showcases the well-known music of ABBA and will have everyone on their feet and singing along.”
