Following the wildly popular Flatten the Curve Run, Walk or Roll, St. George Races (SGR) has expanded its summer virtual race series to include two additional races. The Forget the Couch Run, Walk or Roll allows participants to log as much mileage as possible during the month of June — whenever the mood strikes them, wherever they may be.

“It’s easy to get used to the comforts of home, sitting down and streaming your shows endlessly,” said Aaron Metler, Recreation Supervisor for St. George Races. “While COVID-19 has limited some of the things we are able to do, ‘Forget the Couch’ gives everyone the opportunity to get exercise while maintaining social distance at whatever time of the day they’d like.”

People can register from anywhere in the world by going. Flatten the Curve included entrants from 43 states and four countries, including Japan, Canada and Italy.

Participants are encouraged to use their feet or any non-motorized conveyance (bicycle, skateboard, scooter, roller blades, wheelchair) to accumulate mileage in June. There are a set of benchmarks they can reach along the way to obtain as many as seven different buttons — in addition to their finisher medal.

“The virtual series gives people of all abilities an opportunity to participate in events from wherever they find themselves. We’re excited for ‘Forget the Couch’ as well as ‘Fly the Coop,’ which will be in the month of July,” Metler said. “With everyone's lives still turned upside down, there is nothing better than to participate in an event that helps bring some positivity and fun to everyone.”

Registration continues through the month of June.
