Higher alcohol beer on it’s way
The beer coolers of Utah alcohol and grocery stores are starting to look a bit empty with the changeover to higher alcohol beer a few days away.
Dave Davis of the Utah Retail Merchants Association says the empty shelves are just a temporary problem.
Beers with an alcohol content of five-percent by volume go on sale in the state Friday.
In the meantime, retailers are cutting inventories of lighter beers to make room for new products.
The Budweiser Clydesdales will take part in what's being called a spooky Halloween funeral for lighter alcohol beers tonight at 7:45 outside Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The announcement from Budweiser said three-point-two beer should rest in peace because Bud Heavy is coming to Utah.
The DABC's Sal Petilos says the first wave of new, heavier alcohol products probably won't be the last for state liquor stores.
