AWESOME! St. George Kid, Drew Thorpe, Makes BIG LEAGUE Debut TONIGHT!
The dream is becoming a reality for St. George local, Drew Thorpe! Thorpe will be the starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox tonight as they take on the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile stadium in Seattle. Thorpe is a Desert Hills graduate and helped lead the Thunder to the 2019 Utah 4-A State Championship. Thorpe was drafted 61st overall in 2022 by the New York Yankees. He signed with the Yankees and received a signing bonus of $1,187,000! Last December, the Yankees traded Thorpe to the San Diego Padres, then this March, he was traded again to the Chicago White Sox.
Prior to being called up to the Big Leagues, Thorpe posted a 7-1 record, 1.35 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 60 innings for Double-A Birmingham this season.
This is a HUGE accomplishment for Thorpe, Desert Hills High School, St. George, and the entire state of Utah! We'll all be watching tonight as he will be the starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox. The game starts at 7:40 pm tonight.
Thorpe is still not even listed on the White Sox website, so it's unclear what number he will be wearing on his jersey tonight. This will be a huge opportunity tonight, as the White Sox are the underdogs in this matchup. They're expected to lose. Can Drew show up to Seattle tonight and throw a great game? We're all hoping, rooting, and pulling for him tonight from this small little town in Utah!
LET'S GO DREW! LET'S GO WHITE SOX!
