Ingredients:
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (or diced ham if you prefer)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 4 cups cubed bread (day-old works best)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
- ½ cup chopped green onions
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Layer the cubed bread evenly in the baking dish.
- Sprinkle cooked sausage, bell peppers, and green onions over the bread.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over everything.
- Top with cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 2 hours if short on time).
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden.
- Let sit for 5–10 minutes before serving.
