St George Food Truck Fandango
I've been doing my own local version of Food Truck Fandango. And I have to give big points to the ones I've tried so far as I look forward to trying the rest. One recent surprise was the arrival of Big Lud's BBQ. It's right down the street from where I work and right next to Kneaders. These are my people, as you can tell from the sign. "The original essential oils - Butter + bacon grease". I haven't tried everything yet but I can tell you their brisket, ribs and pulled pork are fantastic. By the way, they may offer you a tiny cup of their chili to sample. DO NOT ACCEPT. If you do, you are going to buy chili for your entire family and the neighbors. It's that good.
Next to Big Lud's is another new arrival in Chuck's Phat Phillys. There is an art to making a good Philly. If you've ever had a bad one you know. But I can tell you, Chuck is an ARTIST and these Philly sandwiches will make you cry. They are SO good.
Across the street from these two is The Corn Dog Company. Like you, I've driven by this one several time. I've even been in Ace Hardware, looked across the parking lot and thought, "I'll have to try that someday". Don't wait, like I did. Wow. People may argue over mustard or ketchup on corn dogs but they are famous for putting a trace amount of honey on your corn dog. 'Sounded weird to me but I tried it and really liked it. And yes, mustard goes on a corn dog. Not ketchup. Savages!
Here's the menu if you need it.
I haven't seen this one on the road but we hit a few of these at Peach Days in Hurricane. Each one better than the last.
While not technically a food truck, I include Pizza Wagon since it's not really a brick and mortar restaurant. And you'll probably tear into your pizza right there in the parking lot in true food-truck fashion. And WOW is their wood fired pizza worth pulling over to try.
Another neighborhood favorite is HoKuLia shaved ice. Don't let my photo taken when they weren't open yet throw you. This is a little bit of frozen heaven worth trying if you're ready for a cool treat after any of these others. (And it IS a food truck. See the tires and the hitch?)
But enough about MY food truck adventures. What are YOUR favorites? Drop 'em in below so we all know the ones you recommend.
