Former Governor Jon Huntsman will not run as a write-in candidate in the Utah governor's race this November.

In a statement, Huntsman said he appreciated ongoing support from voters following his narrow defeat in the Republican primary, but he has no plans to file as a write-in candidate for the general election.

The announcement comes amid reports that a group outside of the Huntsman campaign conducted a testing poll showing he had a good chance to reclaim the office.

Huntsman lost the primary to Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox by 63-hundred votes.
