Utah's former governor is leading its current lieutenant governor among GOP voters heading into the first debate of the 2020 governor's race.

A new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll shows Jon Huntsman, Jr. with 33-percent support among Republican voters who say they are likely to vote in the GOP primary in June.

The former governor has an eight-point lead over Spencer Cox, the current lieutenant governor.

Jeff Burningham finished a distant third with five-percent support.

Huntsman, Cox and four other Republican candidates will debate later today during the Silicon Slopes tech conference at the Salt Palace.
