ST. GEORGE, Utah (KDXU) - A 34-year-old man will spend over seven years in federal prison for a standoff in 2021 that ended when a sniper shot him in Washington City.

Augustus Cole was sentenced in federal court in St. George Wednesday after he pled guilty to a felony of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He drove into oncoming traffic after police responded to a reckless driving and gun pointing complaint.

After a seven-hour standoff at his apartment, a sniper took the shot.
