Man shot and arrested by Layton Police

A man wanted for several felonies has been arrested after trying to escape from police at the Layton Hills Mall.

Matthew Harris of the U.S. Marshals Service says Layton police worked with his agency to apprehend the man as he exited the mall yesterday.

Officers shot and injured the fugitive, taking him to the hospital for treatment.

The name of the person arrested and his current condition have not been released.

Harris said the fugitive had been declared armed and dangerous, which is why officers responded with gunfire.
