Uintah, Daggett and Duchesne counties are pushing Governor Gary Herbert to allow them to speed up their reopening plans.

The TriCounty Board of Health has sent a letter, asking to move to "yellow" or "low-risk" status on the state's coronavirus recovery spectrum.

Under the yellow status,  public gatherings size limits would move from 20 to 50 people, and schools could potentially reopen.

TriCounty has only reported 16 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

A decision on the request is expected by Friday.
