UPDATE: 10/05/2020 8:00 am

The Lava Ridge Fire burned around 348 acres of the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area about 3 miles north of the St. George area Saturday afternoon. The fire was contained as 5 am Sunday morning.

 According Chief Steven Haluska, of the Central Fire Department, about a dozen Fire Engines and brush trucks responded and were supported by 6 aircraft. The Bureau of Land Management was on the scene as well. 

Power outages were reported for about 17-hundred Rocky Mountain power customers.  Crews from Rocky Mountain power were on the scene and restored power around 7:20 Saturday evening

Officials believe the fire was human-caused, and crews will likely be in the area today to monitor some hot spots.

The Lava Ridge Fire is burning in the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area about 3 miles north of the St. George area Saturday afternoon. 

The fire was reported at around 1p.m and currently burning to the northeast.  125 acres have burned, and one structure and several power lines are threatened.

 According Chief Steven Haluska, of the Central Fire Department, about a dozen Fire Engines and brush trucks have responded and are being supported by 6 aircraft. The Bureau of Land Management is on the scene as well. 

Power outages have been reported and some powerlines are on fire.  Crews from Rocky Mountain power are on the scene and working to restore power as soon as possible.

The cause of fire is still unknown.
