The major road construction project scheduled to begin in the Virgin River Gorge has been pushed back until after Labor Day.

According Arizona Highway Patrol Sgt. John Bottoms, all of the stakeholders involved in the construction project on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge met and discussed the upcoming project.

The decision was made to begin the project after the Memorial Day Weekend.

Actual work will begin on Wednesday May 29th. Delays are anticipated, especially during high-traffic times.

ADOT is advising motorists to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.

The project is scheduled to take at least one year to complete.
