The owners of a Salt Lake City store where a shoplifter received injuries that later caused his death, say their employees acted lawfully.

The statement came from the owners of the Ace Hardware store near 400 South and 600 East, where Mischa Ryan Cox was tackled and held down on April 4th by two employees and two other people.

He died a few days later.

The employees said Cox threatened them with a pry bar.

Detective Michael Ruff said that Cox's medical issues were caused by being restrained.
