Several communities in southern Utah are opposing a new rule put in place by the National Park Service regarding the use of ATVs and UTVs in Utah's national parks.

The city of Moab, Grand County and the town Castle Valley drafted a resolution yesterday that opposed the rule allowing the use of the machines on state and county roads in the parks.

The resolution asked the parks service to consider amendments to their rule to require a curfew on using the vehicles as well as other noise and use limitations.

The resolution was to be presented to the NPS at a meeting in Moab yesterday evening.
