The Ironman routes for May 1st

The ironman competition starts tomorrow and that means traffic may be a little different in Washington county.   Barricades are in place, and some of those have QR codes for drivers to see where they can use detours.  Here are the areas and roads the athletes will be using.

The swim portion of the event will be held at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane. From Sand Hollow athletes will exit transition and will ride out and around the backside of the reservoir into the City of Hurricane, then along State Route 9 back towards Washington and St. George. The back half of the course heads through St. George then climb through Snow Canyon State Park and back to St. George.

After entering transition in the St. George Town Square, athletes will begin the one-loop course that heads out on Diagonal and Bluff Street before climbing up Red Hills Parkway through the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.  They will then run along the bluff before returning to the finish line located on Main Street in downtown St. George.
