Utah Elementary School Teacher Tells Catholic Student to Wash Ash Cross off of His Forehead
A Utah elementary school teacher is being criticized after telling a Catholic student to wash an ash cross off his forehead on Ash Wednesday.
William McLeod says his teacher confronted him shortly after he arrived at his school in Bountiful yesterday.
The teacher and the school's principal later apologized to McLeod and his family.
An ordained deacon that works for the school district received permission to put a new ash cross on McLeod's forehead later in the day.
The Davis School District said the teacher's action was not acceptable and the district has started an investigation into the incident.
Davis School District spokesman Chris Williams says the teacher's action was not acceptable.
