Utah Gun Advocate Allowed Bump Stock
A Utah gun advocate is one of the few people in the U.S. who can legally own a bump stock after a nationwide ban went into effect yesterday.
Clark Aposhian, the chairman of the Utah Shooting Sports Council, says the ban is a dangerous precedent that is based on a misconception.
The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver issued a stay of a nationwide bump stock ban last week, but it only applies to Aposhian.
The court said the decision will allow its members time to consider Aposhian's lawsuit seeking to block the enforcement of the bump stock ban.
The gun accessory allows certain assault rifles to fire like fully automatic weapons, and was used by the gunman in a deadly mass shooting at a 2017 Las Vegas country music festival.
Aposhian says he would advise all bump stock owners to follow the ban, adding that he doesn't see another mass shooting using bump stocks on the horizon.
