The Utah House has approved three bills that critics say will make it tougher to get initiatives on the statewide ballot.

One bill approved yesterday would require signature gatherers to make sure voters know what the initiative is before signing their petition.

Another slightly raises the number of signatures that would need to be gathered, while the third delays implementation of any initiative until after the next session of the Legislature.

The bills now head to the Senate for consideration.
