Utah lawmakers will consider a bill that would publicize state tax exemptions.

The bill was filed by State Representative Joel Briscoe, who says current law does not require companies to report the exemptions they receive.

If approved, the bill would not reveal individual company names, but would make public the dollar amount they receive in exemptions and break it down by industry.

Briscoe says the move will make Utahns feel more confident about where the money is going.

Lawmakers will debate the measure in the upcoming legislative session.
