(Salt Lake City, UT) -- The state of Utah wants to know if it's feasible to start a program to retrofit homes and buildings to help protect them from earthquakes. The Utah Division of Emergency Management will carry out a study to identify the costs associated with such a retrofit. The hope is to create a program that would help home and business owners reinforce their properties to help reduce damage in the event of an earthquake. The state says about 140-thousand Utah buildings currently need seismic reinforcement.
