The Washington County Tourism Office is shifting its focus to regional travelers as the tourism industry is suffering amid the pandemic.

Director of the county tourism office, Kevin Lewis, says they're not advertising out of state for the time being and are only marketing to those close by to visit the county's attractions.

Lewis added that they have to be careful on how they invite people back to the region as many people are scared to travel.

The county has already lost millions of dollars in revenue due to closed attractions, empty hotel rooms and canceled events.
