Bill concerning free lunches and free breakfast for students set aside
The Utah Senate is setting aside a bill that would have let students who qualify for free lunches also receive a free breakfast.
House Bill 222 died in the Senate Economic Development and Workforce Services Committee on a 3-2 vote.
Supporters said providing the breakfast would help students learn better.
Opponents feared the state would spend more to provide the meals than it would be reimbursed by the federal government.
