Cinderella Sky View knocks Dixie Flyers out of state tournament

CEDAR CITY – Last week, Sky View stunned the state by upsetting No. 1-ranked Juan Diego in the first round of the playoffs. The Bobcats continued their improbable run in the 4A state tournament by downing Dixie 58-48 Thursday morning from the America First Arena in Cedar City.

Sky View finished the game on a 15-5 run to capture the victory. Dixie had trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but made a run in the third quarter to close to within 43-41 to end the third. The Flyers then tied the game at 43-43 to start the fourth quarter.

But the Bobcats dominated the final six minutes of the game, with Sam Phipps leading the way with 17 points. Mason Falslev, a junior who has already signed to play for the University of Utah, added 15 points as the Bobcats picked up their 14th win of the year (14-9) and advanced to the state semifinals.

For Dixie, Hayden Cottle had 18 points and Nic Roundy added 12 points. The Flyers, who placed second in Region 9 this season, finish the season with an 18-6 record.
