The Division of Wildlife Resource could slash the number of buck deer permits as the 2020 hunting season approaches.

Wildlife experts say more than 91-hundred permits may need to be cut this year.

They cite recent droughts, long winters and wildfires that have gradually reduced the state deer population since it peaked back in 2016.

More than 80-thousand permits will still be available.
