A southern Utah group plans to hold a peaceful protest of the state's current restrictions on gatherings of large groups.

Organizer Larry Meyers says the group has scheduled a Walk for Freedom in St. George.

The group's Facebook page says the walk is meant to protest the Stay Home, Stay Safe measures that they say are violating constitutional rights.

Meyers says the walk will observe social distancing rules and he encourages people to wear masks or gloves if they feel safer doing so.

Dr. Angela Dunn of the Utah Department of Public Health says state officials would prefer that all Utahns continue observing the restrictions put in place by the governor.
