The Hurricane City Council is funding an effort to donate school desks for students in need amid the pandemic.

Employee for KPI Concepts, DeEtte Delane, says she presented the idea to city council and requested nearly five-thousand dollars to make around three-hundred desks.

She's been working with the Washington County School District to determine who is in most need of the desks.

The project is in its early stages, but city council unanimously voted to fund the program with money from the police department's community policing budget and out of the city's discretionary funds.
