Freezing Temperatures Are Headed To Utah, California and Nevada!

It is now officially America's FAVORITE season... Fall! But with fall, comes dropping temperatures. Some temperatures will even drop to be downright COLD! As the western United States locks in for a chilly autumn, we've got FREEZING temperatures on their way as well. Cities in Utah, California, and Nevada will all see freezing temperatures, some frost, and MAYBE even snow! The Old Farmer's Almanac has predicted freezing temperatures for each of the three states.

WHEN WILL THE FIRST FREEZE HAPPEN?

UTAH:

• Salt Lake City: November 1
• Provo: October 16
• Richfield: September 20
• Kanab: October 16
• Moab: October 17
• St. George: November 5
• Cedar City: October 7
• Hurricane: October 31

Brace yourselves, Utah and Nevada, because winter’s coming, and it’s bringing SNOW—a lot of it! While much of the country deals with dry spells, the western Rockies are gearing up for a white winter wonderland. States like Utah, Colorado, and the Lake Tahoe area in California should get ready for snow-filled skies and precipitation levels at or above the usual. Expect heavy snowfalls starting in mid-November, with follow-up storms in early and late January, and a final snowy hurrah in mid-March. While you might need to bundle up, the cold won’t be unbearable. In fact, temperatures should stay a little warmer than normal, with the chilliest snaps hitting late November and January.

California’s winter forecast is... complicated. While the far northern areas might get a break, the rest of the state has a wild ride ahead. After battling droughts, torrential rain, and fires, California can look forward to a wetter-than-usual winter. Yes, that includes snow! Mountain areas are in for some serious snowfall with storms set to hit mid-December, early January, and again in February. If you’re in the lower elevations, things will be warmer than usual, but don’t put away your sweaters yet. The coldest days are predicted for mid-December and mid to late January. So, California—it’s time to dust off the rain boots and prepare for some chilly, soggy weather!

Vegas might be known for the heat, but this winter, the desert’s getting a cold front! Temperatures are set to drop across the Southwest, with colder-than-normal days scattered throughout the season. January is set to be a bit warmer (we’re talking 3 degrees), but don’t let your guard down—March will be 3 degrees colder than usual. Expect frigid bursts in mid-November, mid to late December, and early February. And yes, it’s going to be wetter than normal too, so for those few areas that usually see snow, expect even more! The snowiest times to watch for? Mid-December and early February. Time to layer up, Southwest!
