When I was a a kid in kindergarten and in the first few years of being a student, every once in a while, the school bells would ring in an unusual manner, and we would be lined up and paraded outside to line up along a fence or other designated area. That was my first experience with a fire drill.

But in fifth grade a new unusual bell pattern happened and in stead of being taken outside, we were taken down to the basement, furnace room, and told to line up along a wall. That was our first bomb drill.

So for many who grew up in the 60's and 70's the idea of a nuclear war isn't a new thing. Then of course, in 1983 ABC released the made for TV movie The Day After to put a nuclear conflict in to the mindset of a new generation.

And there have been several dramatizations about nuclear and conventional confrontations over the years.

Well, with conflicts and tensions rising over the last several months, you don't have to look too far to see stories about “what if” a nuclear conflict happens.

Well, the Daily Mail took that one step further and came out with a list of the top 15 U.S. cities that are a likely target for a nuclear attack. And, a city in Utah made the list, even making it in to the Top 10 (I can't imagine Letterman reading this one).

To probably the surprise of no one, Washington, D.C. was the most likely target. And of course the major population centers of New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago were all near the top of the list.

There were some smaller areas that also made the list. Omaha, Great Falls, Colorado Springs and Cheyenne were also on the list. All those areas have close ties to major military installations.

So what city in Utah got the attention of the article? Nope, not Salt Lake City, but Ogden would be most likely to be ground zero in Utah. Of course, Ogden is the neighbor to Hill Air Force Base, home of the 388th and 419th fighter wings of the U.S. Air Force along with the Air Logistics Center, so it has similarities to Cheyenne, Omaha and Great Falls.

I already had enough reasons to not go to Ogden.
