Utah may be a state of family values and beautiful scenery, but it has a dark past with serial killers.

In fact, some of the U.S.’s most horrific cases have the beehive state attached to them. Most notably is Ted Bundy who spanned several states with his deeds in the 1970s. There is also Josh Powell who murdered his two boys after his wife went missing in the 2010s.

So, Utah has quite the past with serial killers and those I mentioned above are just a few of the most well-known ones outside of the state. However, there is one more person that made the news in the 1980s, terrifying families of Salt Lake City.

Arthur Gary Bishop

In 1979, Bishop started his killing of boys in the SLC area, ABC4 said. He continued with five total victims until he was caught in 1983 when his last victim went missing, and he was questioned.

According to World Population Review, Bishop is Utah’s most well-known serial killer dubbed with the name “The Devil in Salt Lake City” during the years he was active.

The five boys whose lives he took were located and given a proper burial. Bishop was scented to lethal injection and died in 1988

In total, Utah has 86 victims from serial killers from 1992 to 2019.

This leaves out the numerous victims from Ted Bundy, Gary Ridgeway (The Green River Killer), and Myron Lance and Walter Kelbach.

So, in reality, there were a lot more serial killers in the 1900s active in Utah and victims unaccounted for.
