Things ALL St. Georgians Have Done At Least Once

St. George will soon welcome Spring (hopefully) and that means St. Georgians will start to do these three things.

Southern Utah has a lot of activities to offer and some just never get old. Like climbing in the lava tubes at Snow Canyon State Park (maybe playing hide and seek with glow sticks like I did). Or maybe it's going to Sand Hollow State Park and completely ignoring the possibility of catching the notorious swimmer's itch.

Watched A Sunset/Sunrise on Dixie Rock

Dixie Rock is a well-known St. George attraction but it's not just a tourist trap, locals go there too. It’s a popular date spot for any age and there is a minimal amount of climbing involved. In the early mornings, it’s busy with families watching St. George come alive. At night it shows busy streets and the city lights spanning for miles.  

So, basically, it’s the perfect spot for photos, dates, photographers, engagements, and school trips. As a staple of St. Georgian culture, Dixie Rock has helped many a young 17-year-old plan a first date. It's busy all year round and it's free! Which is probably why so many younger kids use it for their hangouts.  

Frantically Drove Around on Sunday Looking for Food 

For Utah natives, having stores closed on Sunday may be no big deal. But for those moving to the area from out of the state, it can be a bit of a shock. Once the initial shock wears off, Sunday comes around and of course, no one wants to cook. This begins the frantic search for food options and checking Google for the nearest open restaurant locations.  

This happens more times than I care to recount.  

Decided to Stay Home During a Marathon 

St. George is famous for its marathons one of the most notable being the Ironman. Downtown is packed and parking is non-existent. Good luck grabbing a book from the library! Though races are a part of the St. George life, for those not participating it can be a little tricky to navigate the city.  

So, instead of heading over to Target or T.J. Maxx, some locals just opt to not even try to leave the house on race days. Or beg to work from home just to avoid the traffic. Not to mention it's one of the biggest complaints on social media whenever a big race comes to town.  

I for one, have definitely done this.
