Around 100,000 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be going to the 189th Annual General Conference.

Members of the church from all over the world are flocking to downtown Salt Lake City.

Leo Orellana is a member from El Salvador; she says, “it’s so beautiful, it’s a beautiful place.

Many church members tell ABC4 News they didn’t know they were supposed to bring a clear bag for all their belongings, but some say it’s vital in today's day and age.

“Yeah absolutely, we use them at sporting events. Anytime there is a large group of people we should take safety measures and precautions,” says Las Vegas church member Timothy Lau.

Along with the clear bags, security has asked their members bring clear water bottles and to leave their guns at home.

“We will always have a handful at any event. When you are dealing with tens of thousands of people, not everyone understands our worldwide policy of no weapons on church property," said Director Church Event Services David Miles.

"Well, it’s private property, so I think they get the right to say whether you get it on there or not, just like Walmart or any other place,” said Lau.

Expect North Temple to be closed between West Temple and Main Street two hours before each session. The roads will open back up fully two hours after conference wraps up for the day.  It will allow conference attendees to walk around more easily.

Daniel Irias, a church member from Honduras says he likes the idea.

"I think it is a very way to keep safe, everyone you know, tomorrow and Sunday will be a very busy day. So a lot of people walking in the streets. A lot of cars you know coming from everywhere. So I think it is a good way," said Irias.

Church officials said they won’t store items for members anymore, so they're asking everyone to plan ahead.

In case you need to know more about what you can and can’t bring into the conference, just take a look at your tickets.
