Man Charged for Sexual Assault and Prostitution of a Teen

A Utah man is facing charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl and then trying to use her as a prostitute to make money at truck stops.

Brendan Call of the Utah Attorney General's Office says Ryan MacFarlane of Sunset was arrested yesterday.

MacFarlane faces charges of aggravated human trafficking, human trafficking of a child, rape, kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct.

Investigators say the abuse took place in October of 2017, after MacFarlane agreed to transport the 16-year-old runaway out of Utah.

She was eventually found in Denver and returned to Utah, where she's been receiving therapy.

The Utah Attorney General's Office believes MacFarlane may have abused others and are urging any other victims to come forward as soon as possible.
