Man who raped woman at Port of Entry sentenced

A Texas man convicted of raping a woman at a trucking facility is sentenced to five years to life in prison.

Police say 55-year-old Thorpe Steele was arrested in February after an inspection of his semi tractor-trailer, at the Interstate 15 Utah-Arizona port of entry.

Troopers said a trainee at C-R England in West Valley City stated Steele showed her his truck, then produced a knife and raped her inside it.

Steele said the sex was consensual.

He has 30 days to appeal.
