Sisters and Southern Utah natives who have been singing together for most of their lives, Lacey Rogers and Lyndy Butler comprise the Red Dirt Girls and they will perform at the free Concert in the Park, set for Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Vernon Worthen Park.

“Songwriting is how we reconcile the past,” the sisters wrote on their website. “We are so grateful for where we come from — and at the same time we are letting go of the fear of telling our stories and growing outside of this place.

Love is always with us just like the red dirt of home.”

While the singers grew up singing in harmony to old country classics like Roy Rogers’ “Don't Fence Me In,” traditional gospel hymns and stage musical numbers, it wasn't until 2019 that they began to tell the story of their journey as sisters.

The Red Dirt Girls’ debut album is set to be released Aug. 19. Additionally, two singles —  “Rivalry” and “The Good Pieces” — are available on music platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.

Some of Nashville’s best instrumentalists have collaborated with the Red Dirt Girls, including Josh Kaler on pedal steel and guitars, Liz Estes on violin, and one of Emmylou Harris’ Red Dirt Boys, drummer Bryan Owings.

“We couldn't have made the record of our dreams without so many wonderful folks who believed in us, even before we did,” the tandem proclaimed. “We are so excited to share this part of ourselves with you.”

The next free Concert in the Park is set for Sept. 14 and will feature Ted Vigil with his John Denver tribute.
