New legislation could revamp Utah’s higher education
New legislation at the State Capitol could completely revamp Utah's higher education system.
SB111 from Republican State Senator Ann Millner and House Speaker Brad Wilson would merge the college and university system with the applied technology school system, while at the same time dissolving the Board of Regents to create a new oversight board.
The proposal would also mandate easier transition of school credits between state colleges.
Wilson and Millner argue their idea would make college education more affordable, improve graduation rates and increase access to better career opportunities
