(Salt Lake City, UT) -- Supporters of abortion rights in Utah are protesting the apparent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Several hundred people rallied at the Utah State Capitol yesterday following the leak of a draft opinion indicating the 1973 decision legalizing abortion nationwide would be struck down. Protesters called the decision to have an abortion a personal choice and criticized lawmakers for trying to outlaw abortions in the state. If the decision is overturned, a state law passed in 2020 would make it a felony to perform an abortion in Utah unless it is considered medically necessary.
