Senator Romney and lawmakers want fees from e-cigarette manufacturers
Republican Senator Mitt Romney and a bipartisan group of lawmakers want to hit e-cigarette manufacturers with fees to pay for stronger federal oversight of the vaping industry.
The Resources to Prevent Youth Vaping Act would require e-cigarette companies to pay 100-million dollars a year in user fees to the FDA.
The agency would then use that money to fund safety reviews of vaping products and to prevent the sales of e-cigarettes to children.
Tobacco companies already pay similar fees, but e-cigarette manufacturers are currently exempt.
